Missionary Steve Earlywine is a missionary to Monterry, Mexico.

We are Steven and Mary Earlywine. Our home church is Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX.  Our pastor is Dr. Willie Weaver.  We have been in Mexico, working in the Northwest side of Monterrey  for 7 years.  We were born and raised in Connersville, IN.  We have 3 grown children and we have 15 grand children.  We surrendered our lives to full time service in 1988 and moved to Fort Worth, TX to enroll in Bible College in January 1989.  In March of that year missionary Danny Jones came to Worth Baptist Church to give a report on his work in Mexico.  That service we gave our lives to go to the mission field.  We went forward and told Dr. Raymond Barber our pastor that we felt the call to missions.  After Graduating in May of 1993, we took a survey trip to Monterrey, Mexico.  This trip confirmed that call.

Monterry is a city of about 9 million people.  It is called the city of mountains.  Our mission is located on the northwest side of Monterrey in the city of Escobedo with a population of around 100,000. The mission is located in the colony of Ninos Heroes, which is one of the poor areas.  We started our mission in La Esperanza another colony to the east of Ninos Heroes.  It started in the home of Alvaro Olivo, with just his family 3 years ago.

We have watched it grow from his family of 4 to about 50.  For that reason we moved from their home to the rented building in Ninos Heroes.  Also we could not rent or buy property in La Esperanza area at that time because the families have settled in this area illegally.  The city government is working on legalizing the area.

This is an area of about 1,000 houses.  The people put up houses of what ever they can find until they can afford to buy the block and cement to build a better home.  In this area the streets are all dirt roads and when it rains they are nothing but mud and water.  This makes it hard to walk and visit the area, even the families that live there find it hard to leave their homes.  There is water and electric, but there is no meter.  They pay a flat rate for them both.  And if they don’t pay, the city shuts it off.  So you could loose your water and lights because your neighbors do not want to pay their bills.

We have visited the area of La Esperanza about 4 times and the area of Ninos Heroes 3 times.  There is a river that runs by the two areas.  We also visited there and found homes along the river.  The people said that no one had ever came and told them about a saving God or about Jesus Christ.

We have visitation Saturday morning.  In the afternoon our national pastor heads up the visitation program because he works Saturday morning.  Through the week thee are special visits made.  We have 3 members in the Bible Institute.  A 9 year old boy has surrendered to preach, 2 ladies to full time service and one surrendering to be a missionary.  We have 5 Sunday School classes and a children’s choir.
